Come see Works by Helmi up until February 2nd!

Helmi Dagmar Juvonen (1903-1985), known simply as Helmi, was a Pacific Northwest Artist well known for her work recording Native American culture and art. She worked with many mediums during her career and she is associated with the Northwest School American art movement. Helmi was well known for her art at a time when women rarely made a career as an artist. Her work was especially recognized in the last decade of her life.

Helmi spent the last 25 years of her life in an Elma convalescence home where she met Grays Harbor College English instructor Brent Goeres. The works on display were gifted to Grays Harbor College by Brent Goeres’ Estate.
